Eduardo Calabuig appointed as new General Manager of Inescop
Eduardo Calabuig holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Alicante. He started his professional career as researcher in the CAD/CAM department of Inescop, devoting to the development of 3D computer-aided footwear design software. In 2018 he took over as Subdirector of the Advanced Manufacturing division and in November 2024 he was appointed General Manager by the Governing Board.
Inescop, the Footwear Technology Centre, has officially announced the appointment of Eduardo Calabuig as its new General Manager. The decision, initially approved by the Governing Board on 18th November 2024, was ratified by the Assembly of Members during a meeting held on 8th January. This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for the organisation, which remains committed to advancing technology, sustainability, quality, and good governance after more than five decades of operation.
Eduardo Calabuig, who holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Alicante, brings over 18 years of experience in the technology sector. He began his professional career as a researcher in Inescop’s CAD/CAM department, specialising in the development of 3D footwear design software. Six years ago, he assumed the position of Subdirector of the Advanced Manufacturing division, where he led consultancy activities for companies related to new technologies and Industry 4.0. He has also been actively involved in numerous European, national, and regional R&D&I projects, as well as participating in conferences, trade fairs, scientific publications, and events dedicated to the footwear industry.
Calabuig will give continuity to the centre's strategy with research and development as key pillars. “Our mission is to stay close to companies and create value for them by transferring knowledge and technologies,” Calabuig stated. He also emphasised that “shaping the future of the footwear industry” is the centre’s core purpose.
To this end, Inescop relies on a multidisciplinary team of more than 120 professionals committed to the centre's mission of being the strategic ally of footwear and related companies, offering solutions, knowledge and innovative technologies to improve their competitiveness.
The new management team is also committed to continuous improvement. "Improvement is our goal: improving quality of life, the environment, and the present and future of the footwear industry,” Calabuig remarked. He also affirmed Inescop’s ongoing efforts to remain an agile organisation, serving the industry with ethics, transparency, and sustainability.
