Jakarta to host the 23rd UITIC International Congress in 2027
The International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC) has announced that its 23rd International Congress will take place from 2 to 4 August 2027 in Jakarta, Indonesia, in collaboration with KRISTA Exhibition and with the support of APRISINDO, the Indonesian footwear association. The event will once again bring together professionals, researchers, companies and technology suppliers at one of the world’s leading forums dedicated to innovation, technology and the future of the footwear sector.
The choice of Indonesia places the next edition of the congress in one of Asia’s major manufacturing hubs and reinforces the international and travelling nature of an event designed to connect different industrial cultures and bring technical debate closer to some of the world’s main production centres. According to Sergio Dulio, President of UITIC, the sector’s competitiveness increasingly depends on the ability to share knowledge, compare experiences and access best practices developed in very diverse production contexts.
The congress programme will be structured around three days, combining technical visits to footwear and tanning companies and organisations in Indonesia, a congress day featuring expert speakers and high-level thematic sessions, as well as a joint initiative between UITIC, APRISINDO and KRISTA to coincide with the opening of Indo Leather & Footwear Expo, one of Asia’s leading platforms for the leather and footwear value chain.
In this context, Inescop maintains a prominent presence within UITIC's organizational structure, specifically on the Executive Committee, where it currently holds the position of Treasurer through Esperanza Almodóvar, Head of International Relations at the technology centre. In addition, Elena Orgilés, Director of Inescop's Advanced Materials and Technologies Department, serves on the Scientific Committee.
Inescop's relationship with UITIC dates back several decades. Throughout the organization's more than 50-year history, the technology centre has held the presidency for 19 years, the general secretariat for 17 years, and the treasurership for 16 years, consolidating its position as one of the most influential members of this international network.
For the time being, UITIC has not yet opened the call for papers or announced the official theme of the congress. These aspects, together with the scientific programme, participation procedures and sponsorship opportunities, will be announced in the coming months through the organisation’s official channels.
With this announcement, the sector is already looking ahead to a new edition of one of the most important events on the international footwear calendar, where innovation, cooperation and knowledge transfer will once again take centre stage.
